Gentle Folk, Village Blanc 2021

Gareth and Rainbo Belton created Gentle Folk to make brilliant wine out of the Basket Range. Farming numerous sites and varietals they have built their reputations on lo-fi viticulture and winemaking from making stellar wines from their native Adelaide Hills. Village Blanc 2021 is made from a blend of 65% Sauvignon Blanc, 25% Riesling (both of which add lovely aromatics) and 10% Chardonnay (for a bit of texture & creaminess). The grapes were hand-harvested and spent 8 months maturing in neutral French oak prior to release. A nose of green apple, pear, lemon zest and grass leads to a medium-bodied palate with more herby-fruity flavours and all balanced by a good level of acidity. A super interesting blend and a super interesting wine; paired best with soft cheeses or chicken.
